12 toys under $20 worth buying this year

There is a category of gift that has to cost under twenty dollars and still land: the class party, the cousin, the stocking, the one for the sibling so nobody cries. The Toy Insider's 12 Under $20 for 2026 is that list. Here it is by age, with prices and what each one actually is.

Toddlers and threes

Animal Jamboree, Battat, $19.82, ages 18 mos+. Four instruments for a toddler band: flamingo maracas, a bell shaker, hippo clackers and a drum that everything packs into. The packing-into is the feature you will care about.

bilibo Midi, Fat Brain Toys, $19.99, ages 2+. A plastic shell between the original bilibo and the Mini. Sit in it, spin in it, wear it, fill it with stuffies, use it to cross lava. No instructions, which is the entire idea.

ButterLuvs, RoseArt, $4.99 to $19.97, ages 3+. Very soft plush bunnies, monkeys, bears and capybaras in three sizes, from a stocking-sized $4.99 to eight inches at $19.97. The capybara will be the one they want.

Squishmallows KPop Demon Hunters Derpy & Sussie, Jazwares, $14.99 to $19.99, ages 3+. Derpy the blue tiger at twelve inches and Sussie the magpie at eight, in Squishmallow form. If there is a KPop Demon Hunters fan in the house this is the safest gift on the list.

Three to six

SQZY Gel Gems, Sunny Days, $5.99 each, ages 3+. Geometric gel fidgets that light up when you squeeze them, $5.99 each. The stocking filler that ends up in your bag.

Starbox Nook Nooks Series 1, Zuru, $12.99, ages 3+. A surprise creature asleep inside an LED-lit mini home: a bunny in a retro TV, a penguin in a fridge. The unboxing is the point and the little house is the keepsake.

Just Ameerah Fluffy vs Clearz 9-Pack, WeCool Toys, $12.99, ages 4+. Nine tubs of cotton candy fluffy slime and cherry-scented clear slime, plus a spinner that tells you which mix-in goes in next. Bingsu beads are involved. You have been warned.

Dungeons & Dragons Questers, Basic Fun!, $7.99 to $19.99, ages 5+. Dungeons and Dragons as pocket-money figures: buildable characters and blind-bag mystery creatures from $7.99. The gateway for a five-year-old whose older sibling has the books.

Six and up

Fuggler Gold Edition Figure Blind Box, PMI, $7.97, ages 6+. A 4.5-inch Fuggler with gold teeth and gold accessories, in a blind box, five to collect. For the child who prefers their plush unsettling.

NERF KPop Demon Hunters, Hasbro, $9.99 to $14.99, ages 6+. Foam versions of the HUNTR/X weapons, Mira's curved moon sword, Rumi's four tiger sword and Zoey's spirit blades, from $9.99. The most-requested licence of the year, in a form that cannot break a lamp.

Happy Haul, Just Play, $9.99 each, ages 8+. Ten-dollar mystery boxes of plush, clip-ons and figures from Disney, Stitch, Pooh, Care Bears and the Grinch. The unboxing is the toy.

Rump Race, PlayMonster, $19.99, ages 8+. Two players bounce on manual pumps with their backsides to inflate and pop a balloon first. That is the game. It is exactly as loud as it sounds.

Which ones we would buy

The bilibo is the one: $19.99, no instructions, still in use in March, and it is the one toy on this list with a member discount. The KPop Demon Hunters Squishmallow is the safest gift for a six-year-old you do not know well. Skip the slime unless the child's parents have already made peace with slime.

The full list is at thetoyinsider.com. Fat Brain Toys, which lists the bilibo, is in the club. See the offer →
