Nugget's Minecraft couch comes with TNT blocks

The play couch has been a boat, a slide, a fire station and, for most of this year, a wall you are not allowed to look over. Nugget has leaned into the building part: its Minecraft collection, out since October 1, is a four-piece couch in creeper green and near-black at $299, with a two-pack of TNT blocks at $99.

What is in the drop

The Minecraft Nugget is the standard set, one foldable base, one foldable cushion and two triangular pillows, in the double-brushed microsuede Nugget uses on everything. The print is Overworld inventory: creepers, blocks and diamond swords scattered across the pale green, with the near-black base doing the dirt-layer work underneath. Both pillows carry the creeper face, which is the part your kid will clock from the hallway.

The TNT blocks are the genuinely new object. Two to a set, roughly 14.25 inches on a side, soft enough to stack into a tower and then take the tower down the way the game intends. They are sold separately at $99 and carry a six-month limited warranty rather than Nugget’s usual cover, which is the one line in the listing worth reading twice.

If there is already a Nugget in your living room, the Minecraft cover set is $169 and goes straight over the foam you own. That is $130 less than the full couch for the same thing your kid actually cares about.

Why this collab makes sense

Nugget has done Crayola and it has done Ms. Rachel. Minecraft is the obvious one and somehow the last to happen, because the whole game is putting a block on another block, which is also the entire pitch for a foam couch. David Baron, Nugget’s CEO and co-founder, said what the company admires about Minecraft is that it is full of possibility, where you can create your own stories. That is a press release sentence, and it also happens to describe the product.

The rest is the usual Nugget spec sheet: ages 1 and up, GREENGUARD Gold certified, CertiPUR-US foam, passes California’s TB-117 with no added flame-retardant chemicals, covers that come off and go in the machine. It is sold only at nuggetcomfort.com, and the couch itself is already listed as backordered, shipping when stock returns.

The one we would buy

First Nugget in the house and a Minecraft kid in it? Take the $299 set and leave the blocks for a birthday. The couch alone already turns into everything, and $99 is a lot for two cubes you will trip over. Already own a Nugget? The $169 cover is the whole upgrade, because nothing about the foam changes. And if nobody in your house has mentioned a creeper, this is a $299 green couch, and the plain ones go on sale more often.
