Kyte Baby put sleeves on the adult sleep sack

You set the nursery to 70 degrees because a chart told you to, and now it is 5:50 a.m., the baby is fine, and you are the one lying there calculating whether the second blanket is worth getting up for. Kyte Baby's holiday drop landed on September 24, and the piece worth reporting is not a print. It is the Long Sleeve Adult Sleep Bag Walker, $180, which is the toddler sleep sack in your size with sleeves on it.

What it is

Kyte has sold a sleeveless Adult Sleep Bag Walker since July at $150. The new one adds long sleeves with ribbed cuffs and costs $30 more. It comes in S/M and L/XL, in two of the holiday prints, Holiday Plaid and Cypress, and the listings went live on September 24 under Kyte's own launch tag.

The construction is the same as the version your toddler wears. The outside is 97% rayon made from bamboo and 3% spandex, the filling is polyester, and the front zip runs the length of it into a zipper garage at the neck so nothing scratches. It has legs rather than a foot pocket, with elastic at the ankles, which is the whole point of a walker: you can stand up in it and go to the kitchen without shuffling. There is a side pocket. Kyte suggests it for cold nights on the couch and for camping, which is a stretch, but the couch part is honest.

The number that matters

For scale: the toddler Sleep Bag Walker in the same Holiday Plaid is $75, in sizes M, L and XL covering 6-18 months, 18-36 months and 4T. It is rated 1.0 TOG, which Kyte prints as 21 to 23 degrees Celsius, or 69 to 73 Fahrenheit, and is meant to go over pajamas. So the adult version with sleeves costs the same as two and a half toddler ones, and that will either amuse you or end the conversation.

Worth knowing before you click: Kyte publishes a TOG rating for the toddler sleep bags and does not publish one for the adult walkers, so there is no number to compare the warmth against. Shipping is free on US orders over $85 and returns run 45 days.

Who should buy it

Buy the sleeved one if you are genuinely cold at night and you have already decided a wearable blanket is not beneath you. It is the right answer for the parent who does the 2 a.m. shift in a house kept at nursery temperature. Skip it if you own the $150 sleeveless version, because sleeves you push up to your elbows are not a new product. And if this is a gift, buy the plaid. Cypress is the one that ends up living in the laundry pile in February; plaid is the one that gets worn on Christmas morning, which is the job you are actually buying it for.
