A $77 umbrella stroller that clears the theme-park gate

Every October somebody in the group chat asks which stroller fits through the turnstile at Disney, and every October forty people answer with forty different strollers. Delta Children has now put the answer on the box. The Jeep TurboGlyde, listed September 16, is a $76.99 umbrella stroller whose product page says, in those words, that it meets theme park size requirements.

What you get for $77

A steel frame at 13.7 pounds, which is light enough to carry up a shuttle-bus step with a kid on the other arm. An umbrella fold with an auto lock and a carry handle, down to 9.5 by 6.7 by 41.7 inches. Three recline positions, a five-point harness with reflective shoulder pads, and puncture-proof six-inch tires with swivel fronts that Delta says are the whole point of the name. The canopy is oversized and UPF 50+, with an extendable visor, and the basket is extra large with a parent cup holder, which is the feature you will use most. Handle height is 43 inches. It comes in grey or olive green, and it is sold only at Walmart.

The theme-park line, explained

Disney's parks cap strollers at 31 inches wide and 52 inches long, and Universal is in the same range. Most umbrella strollers clear that easily, so the claim is less about the gate than about the rest of the day: this one folds small enough for a bus rack, a locker, or the floor under a restaurant table, and it weighs little enough that you will actually fold it. The 50-pound rider limit matters too. A tired six-year-old at closing time is a stroller passenger again, and plenty of lightweight strollers stop at 40.

Who should buy it

Get it if there is a trip on the calendar and your everyday stroller is the size of a shopping cart. At $77 this is the second stroller, the one that lives in the trunk and goes on planes, and it is priced like one. Skip it for a newborn: the listing starts at nine months, and three recline positions is not a flat recline. And if you already own a compact stroller that folds under 42 inches, you already own this.
